Essex County Velo is pleased to continue a now classic weekly ride, the Sprint And King of the Mountain (SPANK’oM) ride. The SPANK’oM ride will leave Thursdays at 6:00 from Cutler School in Hamilton.

The SPANK’oM ride will provide all the excitement of a Tour stage but without the worry of getting completely dropped. The ride will feature town line sprints and  king of the mountain sprints (KOM’s), each of the nine sprints will have three placings.

¬Point Schedule:

1st…..3 points
2nd…..2 points
3rd……1 point

• Each rider will keep track of his or her points throughout the ride, disputes will be settled with rock-paper-scissors if there are no witnesses. It’s more about having an exciting ride than who actually wins.

• Map of the course: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/34472844

• There are regrouping sections after all the sprints except the last two. The regroup points are all at busy road crossing and other natural regrouping areas so it should be a pretty fluid ride without too much actual waiting around. Anyone can make it on this ride, if you don’t want to sprint just come along for the ride, the regroup points make that easy.

• The pace between sprints will be a conversational 16-18 mph, basically a time to talk smack to the other riders.

• Attacks leading into sprints zones are encouraged but we’ll try to keep the group together as much as possible between sprints. So an attack miles before a sprint isn’t cool.

• Think safety first during this ride, if there’s too much traffic then don’t sprint, there will be plenty of more opportunities to get points.

• All non-ECVers will need to sign a waiver before the ride.

• ECV members must be current, renewal forms will be on hand.

• Be ready to ride at 6:00.

• If you’re running late, just reverse the course and meet up with us.

Any questions email chris.field@ecvcycling.org.In the event of bad weather, an email will be sent to the ECV Rides email list.
